As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 34,923 people, 12,530 households, and 9,121 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 977.8/km (2,532.1/mi). There were 12,880 housing units at an average density of 360.6/km (933.9/mi). The racial makeup of the CDP was 82.34% White, 8.66% African American, 0.27% Native American, 3.32% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 3.12% from other races, and 2.27% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.49% of the population.
There were 12,530 households out of which 35.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.9% were married couples living together, 11.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 21.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.22.
